Designers! You have until April 23 to enter our portfolio contest to win a spot as one of the 20 featured designers this year!
We try to craft an awesome lineup each and every year and we’d like to think we know what’s good. But we can’t possibly be aware of all the great stuff that’s happening in the creative community. We usually start booking immediately after the previous year’s fest. We start with our ever growing “lust list” (thanks Quite Strong for that term!) and also take recommendations from people whose opinions we trust and respect. If you think you or someone you know has what it takes to be a featured speaker, designer, or band at WMC Fest please use this form and if we like what we see, we’ll let you know!
We consider ALL submissions from all walks of life, ethnicity, class, etc. We’re looking for an interesting and diverse lineup of inspiring people who defy the hand they’re dealt; who are talented, visionary, passionate and self-motivated; who are positive, giving, honest, authentic, open-minded, and willing to share their knowledge for the benefit of others.
Speakers:
We’re looking for speakers with a good body of work and a great story to tell. Having prior speaking engagements is a plus, but not always required. We’re not looking for designers to come on stage and simply show off their work. Having a good lesson or a new perspective is key. View some of our past speakers.
Designers:
For the design gallery, we’re looking for a diverse group of designers that showcase the ART in graphic design. If your work looks good on someone’s wall, then it will look good in an art gallery. To be one of the featured designers you must have a strong portfolio. Take a look at last year’s designer lineup to get an example of the quality we’re looking for.
Bands:
We want to showcase the best and brightest upcoming acts in punk, indie, hip hop, electronica, avant-garde, etc. Check our previous year’s lineups for the style we like. If you’re in a band or know of one that you think fits with the style of WMC bands then we want to hear from you.
Tip: Since we can’t accept all submissions, a great way to get your foot in the door is by volunteering, sponsoring, vendoring, or otherwise helping out the fest in some way. We’re all in this together anyway!
