WMC Fest is here!

The weekend we’ve all been planning for and looking forward to has arrived. It’s time for Weapons of Mass Creation Fest 2012! As you know, we’ve got so much planned for you, starting with Friday night’s mixer and continuing with two days jam-packed with speakers, bands, gallery show, vendors, breakdance battles and more. With that in mind, here are some final details to be aware of:

FOR THOSE WHO ALREADY HAVE TICKETS: If you purchased tickets in advance, remember to bring your printout with you when you arrive, be it Friday night or over the weekend. Your first stop will be Saigon Plaza, where we’ll take your ticket and give you the proper wristband. From there, the Fest is yours to explore and enjoy!

FOR THOSE WHO DON’T YET HAVE TICKETS: If you haven’t yet purchased your ticket, your first stop is ALSO Saigon Plaza. Stop there first and we’ll hook you up! One exception: If you only plan on taking in speakers, there will be a ticket table at Reinberger Auditorium where you’ll be able to buy day-of-show speaker-only tickets. If you arrive at Reinberger Auditorium with printed all-access tickets, ticket takers there will direct you back to Saigon Plaza.

FRIDAY NIGHT MIXER: Remember, the Friday night pre-show mixer is taking place at Saigon Plaza. Circumstances beyond our control led us to move the mixer from Happy Dog, where it was last year, to Saigon Plaza, but we know you’ll love it there. The mixer is all-ages, though if you’re 21+, you will need a valid ID to get the wristband you’ll need to enjoy the bar. If you’ve got an all-access weekend pass, don’t forget to bring it to Saigon Plaza on Friday night to avoid paying the $5 cover. The party starts at 6 p.m. You won’t want to miss this.

SHOP ‘TILL YOU DROP: Between Saigon Plaza and the nearby iLTHY Workshop, there will be plenty of vendors on-hand, both local and national, selling their amazing wares, including posters, prints, apparel and more. You’ll have the chance to purchase exclusive works by many of the visiting designers as well as speakers. While most, if not all, of the vendors will be accepting credit card, it wouldn’t hurt to have some cash on-hand, too. If you need an ATM, there are several in the Gordon Square neighborhood a few blocks west of the Fest at the intersection of Detroit Avenue and West 65th Street.

A NOTE ON SPEAKERS: Just a quick reminder that your ticket doesn’t necessarily guarantee you a seat at the Reinberber Auditorium speakers’ venue. If there’s someone in particular you’re dead-set on seeing, make sure to get to the hall early, because seats promise to be a hot commodity this weekend. Between local heroes, national names, a bestselling author, and legends in the poster and apparel world, you’ll want to be there! Doors open at Reinberger Auditorium at noon both days, with the first talks scheduled for 12:15 p.m.

That should be it! Again, this is going to be an amazing weekend. Make the most of it, make new friends, meet old friends, learn something new, and, above all else, have fun. That’s what WMC Fest is all about.
